Responsibilities:
- Perform standard fire protection design tasks such as sprinkler design criteria specification, preliminary hydraulic calculations, fire pump selection, and fire alarm system layout
- Review automatic fire sprinkler and fire alarm contractor shop drawings and provide written comments
- Perform field surveys, fire protection system inspections, and acceptance testing
- Review drawings for conformance with model and local codes, as well as NFPA standards
- Research model and local codes, as well as nationally recognized standards to assist in the development of alternate methods of code compliance
- Develop reports, letters and memos with the assistance of other engineers
- Perform hazardous materials assessments for storage and manufacturing facilities
- Develop performance-based design analysis using computer fire modeling, egress calculations, and other available resources
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Fire Protection, or related field
- Minimum 1+ years of experience in Fire Protection (industrial/manufacturing (chemical, consumer goods), food/paper, warehouse, hospitality, education)
- Experience can be in the area of design/construction services, applicable supression and notificaiton witnessing and testing, smoke modeling, AutoCAD/REVIT, dust hazard analysis, forensic consulting or BIM 360
- Professional Engineer licence, PE (nice to have)
- NICET Levels I-IV in any area: fire alarm systems, water-based systems layout, special hazards systems
